February 10, 2011: Toronto - AGO
I saw the exhibition "Maharaja: The Splendour of India's Royal Courts" at the AGO today. It was great - comprehensive, logically laid out and annotated with signage, and work that I have not otherwise seen before. And it also provided an opportunity to catch the last of Winterlicious, with lunch at the AGO restaurant Frank. Lamb meatloaf - delicious.

January 23, 2011: Toronto - Adventures in Snow and Board Games
Mark took the day off, and we enjoyed Toronto's winter wonderland. We went on a long loop through Warden Woods park, crossing to the other side of the creek - snow, bright sun, blue skies, steep hills - almost like the Bruce Trail.
Then we played Settlers of Catan, which I had purchased in an effort to come up with a joint activity that isn't tv. We played three games, and are already coming up with own variations - I've looked online and found many more that others have developed that we can try. This has potential.

January 08, 2011: Toronto - Watercolours
I've signed up for a watercolour course with my friend Anne - every Saturday morning from now until the beginning of March. It's been too long since I've had my paints out, and I want to get going with them so that I can feel justified in taking them along to France in the spring.

January 01, 2011: Toronto - 127 Hours
Still readjusting to the time difference, but today we're ambitious enough to head out of the house. We go to see the movie 127 Hours. It's astonishing how suspenseful it is, even though you know exactly how it's going to end. But when that boulder first pins James Franco's arm you can't help but strain with him, desperately hoping that it will somehow come loose. Now I want to read the book!

December 31, 2010: Toronto - Dexter Marathon, Cooking Rabbit
New Year's Eve. Still jetlagged, but more ambitious. I buy a rabbit at the local butcher for the first time, and make it in the slow cooker for New Year's Eve dinner (good, but bony; not quite as savoury as hoped, but with another recipe I think it could be improved on).
We also start a Dexter Season 5 marathon, staying up past midnight, then heading to bed.

Rainbows of Hawai'i
It should be no surprise that we saw many rainbows in Hawai'i, since that's what decorates the state license plate, but it still felt special every time. So here is my collection of rainbows of Hawai'i!
Manoa Falls, Oahu
Kalalau Lookout, Kaua'i
'Anini Beach, Kaua'i

December 30, 2010: Toronto - Jet Lag
Jet lag. We want to sleep and eat at all the wrong times, and struggle to get back onto a Toronto schedule.
