Mark took the day off, and we enjoyed Toronto's winter wonderland. We went on a long loop through Warden Woods park, crossing to the other side of the creek - snow, bright sun, blue skies, steep hills - almost like the Bruce Trail.
Then we played Settlers of Catan, which I had purchased in an effort to come up with a joint activity that isn't tv. We played three games, and are already coming up with own variations - I've looked online and found many more that others have developed that we can try. This has potential.

January 08, 2011: Toronto - Watercolours
I've signed up for a watercolour course with my friend Anne - every Saturday morning from now until the beginning of March. It's been too long since I've had my paints out, and I want to get going with them so that I can feel justified in taking them along to France in the spring.

January 01, 2011: Toronto - 127 Hours
Still readjusting to the time difference, but today we're ambitious enough to head out of the house. We go to see the movie 127 Hours. It's astonishing how suspenseful it is, even though you know exactly how it's going to end. But when that boulder first pins James Franco's arm you can't help but strain with him, desperately hoping that it will somehow come loose. Now I want to read the book!
